Classes

The goal of our classes is to give you an introduction to pottery. We want you to learn what it takes to throw a pot, but it's just as important to us that you have a good experience.

We have a spacious and well-lit classroom. You will have your own shelf on which to store your tools and work. We also have open studio time during our office hours so you can come in and practice what you learned in your class.

The following is a list of the clases and activities we offer. As we develop new opportunites for you to experience working with clay, we will list them here.

Beginning Pottery

These classes are for those individuals who have never taken a pottery class before or need a refresher class. The basics of wheel-thrown pottery will be taught: wedging, centering, pulling, trimming, glazing, and basic stduio etiquette. Typically, students take this class several times before they are comfortable moving on the the next level. We have designed these class to give you the basic skills and knowledge you will need to become a studio or firing member at Fired Up if you so choose.

This class is eight weeks long and meets once a week for 2.5 hours. It includes 25 lbs. of clay and open studio time during our office hours to practice what you are learning. Additional clay may be purchased, and students are responsible for the cost of glaze firing ($12 per square foot).

Class Size: Minimum 6 / Maximum 11

Returning Student Bonus

Returning students will receive 2 free square feet of firing (approximate value: $24). To receive this discount you must have taken a class at Fired Up Studios within the last 12 months.

Restrictions/Rules

• Classes are adults only (18+)
• The class cost must be paid in full when you register.
• Wear clothes that you can get dirty, this includes shoes.

Complete our Registration Form and mail it to Fired Up Studios along with your payment (checks made out to Fired Up Studios - do not send cash). Please complete a separte registration form for each person taking the class. We will call to confirm your place in the class when we recieve your registration and payment.

Cancellation Policy

• If you cancel 1 week prior to the 1st class session, you will be refunded for the class fee minus a $50 administration fee. No refunds will be given after the start of the 1st class session.
• If Fired Up Studios cancels the class or you send your registration and the class fills before it is received, you will be given the option of registering for the next Beginning Pottery class or receive a full refund.

Note: Class schedules and pricing are subject to change; this includes change of instructor, change of start dates, cancellation of classes, and all pricing increases.

Basic Pottery (Beginners to Intermediate)

This class welcomes all levels of potters, from the beginners to intermediate levels. Beginners will be taught the basics: wedging, centering, pulling, trimming, glazing, and basic studio etiquette. More advanced students will learn more complex forms and receive critiques of their work. Because of the range of abilities of the students in this class, it has a looser structure than our Beginning Pottery classes.

Clay Get-Togethers

Clay Get-Togethers are designed to give participants a unique and fun experience. You will have the opportunity to use a potter’s wheel to make your own clay creation. We provide everything you need. All you have to do is come ready to have a good time, and remember to wear clothes that can get dirty (this includes shoes).

We will finish and fire one work per person in the glaze of your choice. Work will be finished and ready for you to pick up in approximately three weeks.

Clay Get-Togethers are perfect for:

Date Night:

Remember the scene in the movie “Ghost” with Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze?  Fired Up Studios can provide you with your own unique clay experience to share with your special someone. Your experience at Fired Up Studios will be even better, although tamer, than the movie. You and your date will have fun and will remember the evening with our surprise gift.

Mud Buddies:

What are Mud Buddies? Mud Buddies are any group of friends who are looking for a fun outing. It’s a great idea for Girls’ or Guys’ Night Out, something special to entertain visiting guests, or just something new to do with your friends. You will have a fun time with your friends, and go home with a memento of your experience.

Family Fun:

Looking for something fun and different to do with the family? Reserve a Family Fun Night at Fired Up Studios. We allow children over the age of 12 to participate as long as they are accompanied by an adult.

Birthday Parties, Showers, & Small Reunions:

Looking for a fun way to celebrate that big birthday? Planning a get-together with college or high school friends? Any small group will enjoy our Clay Get-Togethers. We do all the planning, so you can just relax and have fun. All you need to remember is the cake.

Corporate Getaways:

Can’t afford a 2-day retreat? How about 3 hours? If you are looking for a unique team building experience, try our Corporate Getaway. You will have a fun, shared experience and a memento to remember it by.

Please call to make a reservation. Clay Get-togethers are available at the following times and run for approximately 2 – 3 hours.

Monday – Thursday at 10 am
Friday & Saturday at 10 am or 6:00 pm
Not available on Sunday

Cancellation Policy

If you need to reschedule, please contact us at least 1 week prior to your date. We will reschedule once at no additional cost. There are no refunds if you cannot reschedule.

Children's Classes

Fired Up is an adults-only facility. Children over 12 years are allowed to participate in our Clay Get-Togethers if they are accompanied by an adult; maximum of 2 children per adult. If you are looking for other children's classes, here are a few Twin Cities-area resources you may try:
